Composites (Tooth Colored Restorations):
A “filling” is probably the most common and well known service that dentists provide. A restoration or “filling” is used to replace missing tooth structure that has been lost to decay or fracture. With today’s materials, we are able to provide restorations that mimic natural tooth structure both in appearance and function. When necessary, we are also able to replace older silver fillings that you may find unsightly due to their dark appearance with more natural looking white fillings. Beyond improved esthetics, white fillings also require less natural tooth to be removed when being placed compared to traditional amalgam restorations. Since less natural tooth has to be removed, white fillings allow for more conservative treatment which over time decreases the chance of further breakdown of teeth due to fracture.
